The people that shape who I am
On this 9th of June, Heroes Day in Uganda, I take a moment to celebrate the extraordinary people closest to my heart — my family. Every day they live with courage, love, and sacrifice that goes unsung. Today I sing.
This is not a gallery of likes. It is a record of honour. Each card is an entry point into a full tribute for a life that has shaped my own.
Toto is my mother, and her sacrifices live inside every good thing I carry forward. Her courage, endurance, and daily love gave shape to my life, and this tribute begins with her because so much of me begins with her.
Andrew is my nephew and my mother's first grandson. His presence brings joy and pride to the family, and he represents the beautiful continuation of our family legacy.
Jenni is Andrew's wife and an important part of our family, and her love, support, and presence strengthen the bond we share.
Richard is my brother. His steady support, loyalty, and strength continue to shape our family journey and inspire me every day.
Miriam is Richard's wife. Her care, support, and strong family values help keep our home connected and full of love.
Lily is my sister. Her warmth, care, and encouragement add joy and balance to our family and to my life.
Tina is my wife. Her love, partnership, and daily support are at the heart of who I am and the future we are building together.
Brenda is Tina's cousin, and to all our children she is Auntie Brenda - the aunt that spoils every child with love and joy.
Jaja is my mother-in-law, and she holds a place of honour in our family as the mother who raised Tina and helped shape the home we now belong to.
Herbert is my brother-in-law, the one who gave me Tina, and the children know him as Uncle Berbert - the uncle they always run to.
Milestones and memories that shaped this family and keep our story alive.
Long before titles and achievements, the family was built on simple, powerful beginnings: siblings teaching siblings, curiosity taking root, and the first principles that shaped how the next generation would think, speak, and lead.
Some moments mark a family forever. The memory of returning from school and finding baby Andrew kicking on Toto's bed became one of those moments - a sign of continuity, joy, and the abundance that followed.
From Kololo to Kitante and far beyond, this family multiplied impact. Students were mentored, children were raised with love, careers were carried forward, and one home became a launchpad for many lives.
On this day, 9th June 2026, we remember and celebrate every member of this family who gave so the next generation could grow. You are seen. You are honoured. You are loved.
You may never wear a uniform or have your name in a textbook — but the way you loved, sacrificed, and showed up every single day makes you a hero in the truest sense of the word.
Happy Heroes Day, Uganda. Happy Heroes Day, Family.
